How can I automatically post on Facebook

How to connect your WordPress website to Facebook for auto-posting

Social networks are considered to be the most efficient sources of traffic for blogs and websites. In order to increase the reach of your posts and attract more readers to your website, you should therefore distribute your posts as widely as possible on various social media channels. With more than 2.8 billion monthly active users, Facebook is by far the most popular of the social networks: Connect your blog to Facebook for auto-posting.

In this post, we'll show you how you can quickly and easily connect Facebook to your WordPress website, and share your posts automatically and at the best of times.

Facebook offers 3 effective ways to promote content on Facebook:

  • Personal Facebook profiles
  • Facebook (business) pages
  • Facebook groups

But the manual sharing of individual social media posts on all Facebook channels can be exhausting and time-consuming. Auto-posting is a welcome alternative that can drastically reduce the amount of work you spend on Facebook marketing.

The WordPress plugin from Blog2Social is one of the few automation tools whose functionality is tailored to the special requirements of WordPress websites and the possibilities of the most popular social networks, for example Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn. You can organize your entire social media planning directly via your WordPress dashboard, both for your website posts and for any other social media posts made up of texts, links, images or videos. A clear social media calendar supports you in this.

But since this post is specifically about Facebook, I will particularly introduce you to the functions of Blog2Social, which facilitate your Facebook marketing and auto-posting on Facebook pages and in groups of the popular network.

To support you and your Facebook marketing, Blog2Social offers you the following functions:

  • Post on personal profiles, pages and in groups to reach different audiences.

  • Share specially adapted social media posts on Facebook and optionally customize your posts with individual comments, #hashtags, @Handles or emojis.
  • Customize the post templates for profiles, pages and groups to automatically generate social media posts from your website content.

Depending on the connected network, the Auto-Poster automatically adds texts with the correct number of characters to your post.

You can find step-by-step instructions for the different functions of the auto-poster in our FAQ: How can I schedule my blog posts automatically and time-controlled on social media (social media auto-poster)?

3.2.1 Excursus: How to customize the Facebook post templates for automated posting

Facebook offers different post formats, all of which have their advantages. These include text, image, link and video posts. Basically, posts with visual content lead to a higher placement on the home pages of your followers. In order to meet the requirements of the Facebook algorithm and post in your desired format, you can define the post format in Blog2Social individually for each post or as the standard format for the car poster.

Which posting format is suitable for your marketing goals on Facebook depends entirely on your individual goals. Sharing link posts could lead to higher clicks on your website, while an image post could generate a higher reach.

You can adjust the social media post templates in the “Networks” section of Blog2Social.

  1. Select Facebook and click on "Edit Post Format".

2. Select the type of Facebook postsfor which you want to make your settings: profile, page or group. You can now choose the standard format for your Facebook posts: picture post or link post.

In the case of a link post, with one click on the picture you will be directed to the website, blog, online shop or another page that is accessed via the link. Although a picture post can also contain a link, the picture is in the foreground.

3. You can still edit the content of your postsby simply dragging and dropping the elements (title, text excerpt, content, keywords) into the text field or simply clicking on them. This is how you determine which elements of your blog post, your page or your product should appear in your posts:

  • Title: The title of your post.
  • Content: The content of your post. (A section or the entire text)
  • Excerpt from the text: The summary of your contribution (you can define it in the side menu of your contribution)
  • Keywords: The tags that you have set in your post (in your posts they are shown as hashtags).
  • Author: The author of the post.

Set the character limit for the variables "Excerpt" (Excerpt) and "Content" individually. Your text will be cut off after the last point within your character limit. You can also change your preferred character limit using the up and down arrow keys.

Set the character limit for the variables "Excerpt" (Excerpt) and "Content" individually. Your text will be cut off after the last point within your character limit. You can also change your preferred character limit using the up and down arrow keys.

A “text excerpt” will only be inserted into your social media post if you have entered a manual text excerpt in the text excerpt box in the side menu (document settings) of your blog post.

The number of characters defined by you for the variables "text excerpt" and / or "content" are not taken into account for the title or the hashtags and "title" and "hashtags" are not shortened. All limits must be within the specified number of characters on social media, on Facebook this is 63,000 characters for pages.

The post template settings also offer you the option to automatically add or remove the links in your Facebook picture posts by clicking on the checkbox. You can set this for your Facebook profile, page and group.

Your selection will be shown in the preview below based on the last published post. If you are satisfied with your settings, click on “save”.

4. To reset your changes, click on "Load default settings". All settings will then be reset to the Blog2Social default settings.

Here you can find step-by-step instructions for customizing the social media post templates for your Facebook posts.

Post at the right times for maximum engagement

In order to operate successful Facebook marketing, you should also try to reach as many users as possible. Posting at the best of times is an important requirement for this.

Basically, the Facebook communities are most frequently active during the week in the afternoons between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. and in the evenings between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. You can also achieve a lot of interactions on the weekend. The Blog2Social “Best Time Manager” supports you in planning the best times, in which the best times are already preconfigured. The settings of the “Best Times Manager” are based on extensive studies. With just one click, Blog2Social fills out the most suitable times for posting in the various networks.

However, the most active times may differ depending on the target group. To make sure that you are actually posting at the best of times, an in-depth analysis of your own community is advisable. Then you can save your own best times under the network settings and use them automatically for your planning for all your social media posts.

3.3 Automated re-sharing: This is how you plan your posts for repeated posting on your Facebook accounts

Especially with your best posts and your evergreen content, it makes sense to publish these posts repeatedly. In this way he reaches as large a part of your target group as possible and you regularly supply your followers with content.

But be careful: While it is quite normal to post very often on Twitter, you could easily annoy your Facebook followers with too many posts. It is recommended to post on Facebook 1-2 times a day.

So you plan your posts in a recurring rhythm

Automate your entire re-sharing process so you have more time to create new content and interact with your community.

It's very simple: Choose which blog posts, pages or custom post types you want to revive, as well as the time and the interval and Blog2Social automatically fills your social media feeds with your content for you.

To do this, click on “Repeatedly share posts” in the Blog2Social menu to go to the settings for re-sharing.

Here you can set everything individually for your resharing. The number of posts, what type of content should be shared, which social media networks you want to use and in which rhythm the posts should be published. If you want to publish the post on Facebook automatically, select under "Where should your content be shared?" Select a network grouping in which your Facebook pages or groups are located.

You can find detailed instructions for the repeated, automated sharing of old posts on Facebook and other networks here.

In addition, you can also select one of your most successful posts for re-publishing in your WordPress dashboard under “Posts”. Just click on “Share on Social Media” next to the title of the post.

Conclusion: connecting the blog with Facebook for auto-posting is worthwhile!

The social networks are ideal for attracting new readers to your own website. The influence of Facebook should not be underestimated. Although Facebook is just one network among many, it is considered THE engine for click numbers and page views. Auto-posting is great for spending more time creating than distributing new content.

The following applies to your social media marketing: more is more! Remember to use other networks for your content seeding as well.
