How do you feel about Hasidic Jews

# or: Jewish and Christian - closer than you think

Cologne. The Archdiocese of Cologne supports the nationwide poster campaign "#relatively: Jewish and Christian - closer than you think" for this year's anniversary "1700 years of Judaism in Germany". The aim of the campaign is to promote Christian-Jewish dialogue.

1700 years of Jewish life in Germany

2021 is a special year: 1700 years ago, a Jewish community in Germany was first mentioned in a document. On this occasion, the nationwide festival year “# 2021 Jewish life in Germany” was proclaimed. The Catholic Church is also taking this as an opportunity to raise awareness of current Jewish life in Germany and to become clearer about its Jewish roots and references.

Participation campaign "#relatively: Jewish and Christian - closer than you think"

As part of the festival year, the hands-on campaign “#or rather: Jewish and Christian - closer than you think” was launched. It is supported by the German Bishops' Conference (DBK) and the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD). In 12 monthly posters she would like to show connections between Judaism and Christianity and name differences. The Central Council of Jews, the Orthodox Rabbinical Conference (ORD) and the General Rabbinical Conference (ARK) also take part in the campaign.

For the regional implementation of the campaign, the Catholic and Protestant Churches in North Rhine-Westphalia have come together in a cooperation and created a version of the posters for North Rhine-Westphalia. The Archdiocese of Cologne made the posters available to its schools and communities in order to stimulate an intensive discussion of the topic. The materials can be found at www.interreligioeserdialog.de. Further information on the campaign can be found on the nationwide website www.jüdisch-bzw.-christlich.de.
